Following on from our most recent webinar by Rebecca Herrington on the Breaking Barriers Co-Design Conference and Workshop in Cape Town, we are excited to share one of the concepts that was developed during the co-design process. Nick Oatley shared with the DME for Peace community the idea developed by ‘Team Treadstone’ to include a specific objective in the proposal narrative to ‘design performance monitoring and evaluation activities that captures results, informs learning and enables adaptive management practices’.
This idea focuses on overcoming the problem of seeing M&E as an afterthought and resolving the tensions between M&E and program staff by building in M&E as an integral part of the program design and implementation. Team Treadstone’s goal is to create opportunities to engage program participants in evaluative activities throughout the implementation of the program by including a specific objective in the proposal that prioritizes M&E for the purposes of learning and adaptive management.
Nick was joined by other members of Team Treadstone to share their thoughts on integrating M&E as a primary objective.
