This course covers the basics of evaluation management with a view to address the specific challenges managing evaluation. It is intended for people who manage evaluation and evaluation processes in their work and who are interested in best practice and sharing of experiences with their peers.
The aim is to enable professionals who manage evaluation to better understand and improve the planning, design and to allocate resources in an optimal way, whether this relates to data collection, human resources and time, or use of the final outputs.
The course is designed around the main difficulties experienced by practitioners and drawing on the rich experience from the facilitators Mr. Stefan Dahlgren (previous head of Sida Evaluation Unit) and Mr Emery Brusset (Director of Channel Research and Evaluation Team leader), both veterans in the field of managing various types of evaluation such as complex evaluation and joint donor evaluation.
The training will focus on:
- Principles of evaluation
- Evaluation environments
- Different types of evaluation
- Evaluation use
- Design of evaluation and determining factors
- Evaluation production, challenges and best practise
The course method is built on the sharing of expertise, achieved in an interactive way on the basis of specific project examples discussed and analysed jointly. Participants are therefore asked to contribute their own real life case studies, some of which will be selected for group work during the course.
