In light of Covid-19 and the need to self-isolate, peacebuilders around the world may be feeling more disconnected than ever. This feeling of isolation can be disillusioning and cause many of us to struggle both mentally and emotionally with our work. Creating opportunities to connect with colleagues digitally is more important than ever. Over the last few years, DME for Peace has facilitated learning opportunities that have created direct connections between practitioners, academics, evaluators, and students around the world. Through these experiences we have learned what works, what doesn’t, and why.
That is why we’re launching a new initiative: Connections by DME for Peace.
Connections will allow peacebuilders around the world to digitally connect with other practitioners, develop working relationships, and have real conversations about their work through this period of isolation.
Building on the success of the DME for Peace Mentorship Program, we are launching a program that connects practitioners, academics, evaluators, and students around the world to develop relationships and a sense of connection through this period of isolation. Connections is inspired by DME for Peace’s commitment to supporting our community and not only providing connection to resources and emerging best practices, but also providing connection opportunities between practitioners working on similar issues in a variety of contexts. DME for Peace is a living, learning community and Connections will allow peacebuilders to digitally connect with other practitioners around the world, develop working relationships, have real conversations about their work through this period of isolation, and learn from each other, as we work through this difficult period.
Participants will be asked to complete a short application form and then the DME for Peace team will work to make direct-digital connections between participants. Participants will be matched on their focus of work, location, language and goals for participating. The goal of this program is to make the initial connection and provide you with the tools to create a lasting relationship will develop. We will not be creating a learning curriculum, but we will encourage participants to identify shared interests, shared goals, and support you throughout this process.
This program is open to participants around the globe.
