Head of IT

International Alert

Salary: £57,070, with excellent benefits

Duration: Open ended
Based: London, UK

International Alert is a growing global peacebuilding organisation with a new 5-year strategy. Robust business systems and IT infrastructure are at the core of our ability to achieve our ambitions.

The IT function is led by the Head of IT, who will manage one IT assistant and outsourced contractors and consultants in the UK and overseas.

Broadly, the goals of Alert’s IT team are to ensure that effective and innovative IT provision is in place globally to support the strategic and day to day needs of the entire organisation (UK and overseas). Working closely with senior colleagues, the Head of IT designs and delivers IT strategy which offers maximum impact for a limited budget and ensures International Alert is equipped with business systems which support organisational strategy.

The successful candidate will have first-rate expertise in designing and managing IT strategy, infrastructure and strategic business systems. S/he will combine a strategic mindset with a hands-on approach and will possess strong technical skills and an excellent ability to communicate with a variety of non-technical stakeholders and drive organizational change.

The closing date is 6 January 2019  (UK time).

While International Alert will endeavour to contact all candidates within a reasonable time, this may not always be possible due to limited resources.  Therefore, if you have not heard from us within two weeks of the closing date, you can assume that your application has, on this occasion, been unsuccessful. International Alert is an equal opportunities employer. All applicants will be judged strictly on the basis of merit.
International Alert helps people find peaceful solutions to conflict.

We are one of the world’s leading peacebuilding organisations, with 30 years of experience laying the foundations for peace.

We work with local people around the world to help them build peace. And we advise governments, organisations and companies on how to support peace.

We focus on issues which influence peace, including governance, economics, gender relations, social development, climate change, and the role of businesses and international organisations in high-risk places.
