M&E Thursday Talk – Innovative Methods for Conducting Research with Children Aged 6 and Below
Carlotta Fassiotti & Emmanuel Nkusi
Join DME for Peace on Thursday, January 17th at 10:00am EDT as Carlotta Fassiotti and Emmanuel Nkusi of Search for Common Ground (Search) host the M&E Thursday Talks series to lead a discussion on “Innovative Methods for Conducting Research with Children Aged 6 and Below.”
Carlotta and Emmanuel, joined by members of Search Rwanda, will discuss alternative approaches on how to best do research with children in this age-range, offering an alternative to standard data collection methodologies. These approaches include combining observations, using game cards, and leading interactive focus groups.
In Rwanda, Search applied these methodologies to assess changes in knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors surrounding Early Childhood Development practices. Based on this experience, they will further explore the ethical considerations and challenges of working these young children.
Participants will be able to ask questions and join in on a broader conversation around gaps identified from their work in Rwanda, and the potential opportunities for others in the peacebuilding field to duplicate these approaches.
