This is a recording of the M&E Thursday Talk from October 4, 2018 as Michael Cooper of Emergence led a discussion on “Blockchain for Peace & Development: What you need to know.”
There is a lot of hype around blockchain and what it can do. This has led to the rise of blockchain “snake oil salesman” that capitalize on the lack of knowledge around this emerging innovation. This webinar will introduce participants to a brief overview of what the main “value adds” of the blockchain are, how the blockchain can be integrated into fragility programming and corresponding MEL strategies, how to plot your initial steps in determining whether, and how you can use the blockchain in your own projects and operations. The goal of this webinar is to build a basic level of understanding amongst participants on blockchain and how to build it in your strategies.
This webinar covered some of the current applications of blockchain technology in areas like digital identity or financial inclusion, and discussed some of the current guidance and learning materials on the topic.
