This is a recording of the M&E Thursday Talk from April 19th, 2018 as Dani de Garcia and Gabrielle Plotkin of Social Impact led a discussion on “Challenges & Practical Tools for Managing Developmental Evaluations.”
Developmental Evaluation (DE) is an increasingly common approach to evaluation. However, given the amorphous nature of DE, there is relatively little available in the way of practical guidance on how to implement DEs. The DEPA-MERL Consortium, including Social Impact, Search for Common Ground, and the William Davidson Institute in partnership with the USAID Global Development Lab, have been working on piloting developmental evaluations in the USAID context. Drawing on their practical experience of managing various DE pilots through this project, Danielle and Gabrielle offered concrete guidance specifically focused on designing and launching DEs. This webinar provided guidance for organizations, managers, and evaluators that seek to implement this approach.
