This is the M&E Thursday Talk from Thursday, December 19, when Khalil Bitar, EvalYouth Global Networks Chair and leader of EvalMENA, led a discussion on the “Evaluators as Activists? The Role of Evaluators in Protecting and Promoting Social Justice and Equality.”
Khalil discussed his insights and experience concerning a sensitive topic: Can/Should evaluators be activists too? As a Palestinian, Khalil was challenged with this dilemma early on in his career as an evaluator.
In this webinar, he shared his experience on how he dealt with this issue, drawing on his recent publication on the topic and his plenary presentation given at AEA’s 2019 Evaluation Conference. Khalil also explored activism in evaluation in general, and especially in conflict-affected and fragile countries.
