The project “Zo Kwè Zo” was implemented by Search for Common Ground (Search) in collaboration with the Association of Women Communication Professionals (Association des Femmes Professionnelles de la Communication, AFPC) with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The project started on 15 October 2015 and ended on 29 November 2017
It was implemented in the cities of Bangui, Bangassou and
Bossangoa, in Central African Republic (CAR). The overall goal of this project was to prevent intercommunity violence and support an inclusive peacebuilding process in CAR.
The specific objectives of the project were to:
1. Increase the participation of young women and men from diverse identity groups in peacebuilding processes in Bangui, Bossangoa and Bangassou;
2. Amplify positive representations of non-violent and collaborative voices in the media;
3. Enhance the capacity of non-state institutions to support a credible, peaceful, inclusive and transparent transition process in Bangui, Bossangoa and Bangassou;
4. Strengthen the capacities of Search’s partners to implement activities which bring conflict stakeholders closer together.
As the project “Zo Kwè Zo” ended in November 2017, Search commissioned a final project evaluation which has a two-fold objective, namely learning and accountability towards key stakeholders. The evaluation was conducted by Conflict Management Consulting (CMC, www.cmc-consult.eu) and data collection was executed in collaboration with Cabinet TECNIC from Bangui.
The primary objectives of this evaluation were to:
• Collect data for the project indicators at the end of the implementation process;
• Conduct a systematic analysis of the relevance, effectiveness, impact and sustainability of this intervention;
• Collect data at the end of the project for quantitative indicators regarding the population’s attitudes and behavior. This data was to be compared with the baseline values collected at the beginning of the project and was to be distinguished from the logframe indicators;
• Present lessons learned and provide recommendations to Search and USAID with the aim of improving the effectiveness, relevance and impact of similar projects in the future.
