The UNEG ethical guidelines for evaluation are based on commonly held and internationally recognized professional ideals. The Guidelines have been drawn up with reference to relevant texts, principal among them the UN Norms and Standards for Evaluation. All staff members of the United Nations are subject to the Standards of Conduct for the International Civil Service, which obliges staff to conduct themselves in accordance with the highest standards of integrity as enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations. These Guidelines are consistent with the Standards of Conduct. These Guidelines expand on the Ethical Code of Conduct for Evaluation in the UN System.
