Outcomes of the civil society conference, 26th of Sept 2020, Baghdad

The Civil Society Conference to follow up on Iraq second National Action Plan (NAP) for United Nations Security
Council Resolu􀆟on (UNSCR) 1325 on women, peace, and security, given Women, Peace and Security Agenda
and COVID-19 pandemic, was held on 26th September 2020 in Baghdad with the participation of more than 65
representatives from civil society organizatons (CSOs) and Iraqi Government institutions. The conference was
organized by the Alliance 1325 and supported by EuroMed Feminist Initiative in the framework of the ‘Madad for
Through the EU’s Regional Trust Fund, the EU ‘Madad Fund’ is a women’s project funded by the European Union. The
mee􀆟ng was also co-sponsored by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI). The main objective was
to follow up on the progress made in developing the second NAP since the national civil society conference
in February 2020 and support its adoption and implementaion. Furthermore, the Covid-19 pandemic’s impact on
the women was discussed, and recommendations for gender-sensitive measures in the national response were
elaborated.
